You can do them in private in the bathroom, in the comfort of your home or at your desk in your office or even in public when you are sitting at a restaurant table waiting for someone. Even though these exercises may look silly and sounds more like a hoax, but it actually works. Try it yourself for a month and see the difference for yourself.
Puffed-up cheeks and droopy chins are much more visible than flabby thighs and it takes less time to do these facial exercises than warming up for a full body workout. This doesn’t mean these facial exercises replace the workout for your body but they complement each other. After all, wouldn’t it make sense to have a sculpted face with a toned body?
Pucker your lips as if you are kissing someone. Keeping your lips pursed, suck in your cheeks to form hollows on both sides of your face. Now try to smile while holding this position. You should feel an intense tension above and around your cheeks. Count till 10 and bring your lips back to normal. Repeat 10 times a day to give your cheek and jaw muscles a good stretch.If you have looked at fish in an aquarium, you may have seen the Kissing Gourami, also known as the Kissing Fish which goes around kissing plants and other fish. This exercise intends to replicate the peculiar kissing behaviour of the fish and therefore is also called the Fish Face exercise.
Open your mouth as wide as you can and hold while counting till 5. Relax and let go. Repeat about 30 times in the morning. To hasten the effects of the exercise do it again at noon and once more in the evening before going to sleep. Move your face forward and stretch your neck as far in front as possible as if you are peering hard at something in front of you. Feel the tension in the muscles of your neck and below your chin. Hold this position while counting till 10 and then relax. Repeat 5 times a day to get a well-defined jawline and also prevent flabby necks and double chins from developing.People who sit at a desk for most of the day may find that their neck and chin become flabby. This particular exercise is meant to give your neck and chin muscles a good stretch.
Keep your gaze at a fixed point right in front of you. Make sure your chin is up and your neck in a normally erect position. Make a fist and place it below your chin to make sure that your chin is not drooping down. Now, open your mouth and stick your tongue out in front as much as possible. Keeping your tongue stretched out, try to touch your chin with the tip of your tongue.Of course, you can’t touch your chin with the tip of your tongue but the idea is to stretch the muscles in your cheek and jaw in a way that it is rarely stretched. Repeat 10 times a day.
Open your eyes and mouth wide at the same time. Raise your eyebrows as high as you can. Count till 10 and then close your mouth and blink your eyes. Repeat 5 times. This exercise works better if you are facing a mirror because then you can see how you look surprised.The benefits of this exercise extend from your brow to your chin, toning the muscles and flesh across all your facial features.
In a seated or standing position, look straight ahead and jut out your lower lip in front and try to touch it to your nose.Of course, you cannot actually touch your lower lip to your nose but the intention is to stretch the muscles around your jaw and chin in a way that you normally don’t. Bring your lower lip as close to your nose and count till 10. Lower your lip and smile. Repeat 10 times.
In a seated or standing position, open your mouth and drop your lower jaw. Push the dropped jaw outwards from your face until you feel the stretch in your cheeks and in the joints of your jaw. Count till 10 while holding this position. Then draw your jaw inwards and upwards to close your mouth. Repeat 10 times every day.Benefit from achieving prominent cheekbones, a strong jawline and a firm neck with this simple exercise involving your lower jaw.
This exercise is meant to stretch your neck and the entire face to tone your facial features. Stand up or sit down and gently tilt your face backward so that your gaze is at the ceiling, the sky or whatever’s up there. Keeping your gaze up, push your chin out and suck in your cheeks. Hold this position and count till 10. Bring your face down to its normal position. Repeat 10 times and you can keep that sagging worry of a double chin at bay.Instead of peering at the latest message on your mobile phone, turn your gaze upwards to really look at what’s up there.
Smile and stretch your mouth as wide as possible without parting your lips or opening your mouth. Hold for 10 counts and relax. Repeat 10 times a day. You will soon see your cheeks become firmer, your cheekbones more prominent and your jawline will become more pronounced.Smiling consciously whenever you can tends to make the corners of your lips curl up, thereby firming up your face. Frowning often will pull the corners down and make your face sag. Smiling is as much an exercise for the face as it is for your whole sense and spirit of being.
Take a deep breath through your mouth filling it up with air. Expand your cheeks by keeping your mouth closed and your lips together. First fill out both cheeks by puffing them up. Count until 5. Now, transfer air within your mouth to one cheek, hold and count till 5 and then to the other cheek.Relax and gently blow air through your mouth. Repeat 10 times a day and you will soon see your face beginning to appear slimmer than before. This exercise is intended to stretch and give your cheek muscles a good workout.
Inhale deeply by breathing in through your mouth and feel your cheeks being sucked in. Close your mouth while keeping your cheeks sucked in and count till 10 before exhaling through your mouth. Repeat 10 times daily.In yoga, inhaling and exhaling deeply especially while doing inversion poses where the head is held upside down or hanging loose from the neck is considered to be good for stimulating blood circulation and stretching the facial muscles. You can do this simple facial exercise, inspired by yoga, while sitting down or standing up. This exercise benefits in helping you to tone and tighten puffed-up cheeks.
Hold your hands in front of your face with the index and middle fingers pointing up. Touch your cheeks with your finger tips and gently push up below the cheekbones. You will feel the flesh on your cheeks rise right below your eyes. Hold this position and open your mouth form a vertical oval shape. You are essentially trying to stretch the flesh and muscles around your cheeks and on your chin.Count till 5 and close your mouth and remove your fingers from your cheeks. Feel the blood circulating in your face as you relax. Repeat 10 times a day and you can prevent the formation of sagging jowls and delay the effects of aging and loosening of your facial features.
Exercising your body, whether it is working out in a gym or going for a run takes some time and commitment. You just need to spend a fraction of this time to do these facial exercises and you’ll produce amazing results.
